Should I say something to her mom?
I am a nanny for a sweet little girl who is about 10 months old. Before I had my daughter I worked extensively with autism in both children and adults, and I have years of experience with it. My daughter has Sensory Processing Disorder as well, and although that is nowhere near autism, the sensory problems are very similar. Anyway, I strongly (probably like 90-95%) believe that this little girl has autism. She already shows many of the clic signs such as lack of eye contact, severe stranger anxiety (she wouldn't even let me feed her a bottle for almost 2 weeks), does not roll over or crawl, does not form vowel/consonant combinations, does not smile, and some muscle rigidity. I know that they cannot diagnose autism until 18-24 months, but I also know that early intervention is key if the child is ever to lead a relatively normal life. Should I just keep my mouth shut and try to work with the little girl when she is with me, or should I say something to her mother about it? I don't want to risk losing my job over this, because I love working for this family, but I also don't want to see this little girl grow up without treatment.
