Is it a frostbite? fingers numbness & hand weakness..?

Frost bite would seriously discolor the skin to the extent that is would die, lack of circulation. However it could be that he damaged his hand when doing the task, but due to the cold, failed to notice the damage. The damage could be at the wrist, check to see if that is inflamed, painful if he has full function of the wrist.
