Mentality of video game cheaters?

I used to cheat on my pokemon games back in the day. There was this glitch where you could surf down by cinnibar island and multiply the items in your inventory. A lot of the reason why I cheated was due to frustration when trying to accomplish the ultimate task of collecting all 150 pokemon (I'm talking about the original game, not all that new stuff they came out with later). Anyway, I found that by multiplying the master in my inventory, it was a 100% way of catching pokemon, and I therefore didn't have to waste a whole lot of time on something I was going to inevitably accomplish either way.
