Mercury Mariner vs Jeep Comp?

Okay, so I've (finally!) narrowed this down to the Jeep Comp or the Mercury Mariner. Both are loaded w/options. I prefer the Mariner, but it is about $2k more than the Jeep. Is it worth it? I told dealership come down another $1,500 and we'll have a deal, and I havent heard back from them.
